1969 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible
Garnet Red Exterior, Black Interior, White Top, 110 HP engine with Auto Trans
Only 6000 Corvairs produced in 1969, of those only 521 were convertibles.
My car currently has 35,000 actual miles on it. I know the mileage is correct,  because I have a copy of all the titles for the car
except the original owners. The original owner is supposed to be in Ohio. I still hope to find out who was the first owner, but with
the new privacy laws it will be difficult.

My car was built at the Willow Run Plant, in Ypsilanti Michigan. It was built on the first week of September of 1968.

This 1969 Corvair Monza was purchased new from ????????????? Chevrolet, in  ??????????, Ohio.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
The First owner lived in Ohio and  purchased the car on  ???????. They owned it until about December of 1972. When they sold the
Corvair it had 26,000 miles.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
The Second owner purchased the car in Ohio and moved it to Pennsylvania in 1972. When the Monza was titled in Pennsylvania on
December 20, 1972 it showed 26,000 miles. This owner apparently lost his copy of the title. He applied for, and received a duplicate
title in July 1983. I am assuming this is when he was selling the car to the next owner.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
The Third owner purchased the car, and moved it from Pennsylvania to Delaware. I am told, he put it in storage. I believe he
purchased the car in July 1983. He titled it in Delaware on April 2, 1991 showing 29,731 miles. The Delaware owner re-titled the car
to add his son to the title on October 4 2004, and it showed 31,721 miles on that title.

There had been some previous body work on both rear quarter panels, and the lower windshield frame. This was before the car was
brought to Kentucky. (Looked very old) The car has been re-painted once over the original paint. Then lower quarters had been
repainted to the mid body line some time later. I do not know which owner had this work done.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
On December 20, 2004 the Fourth owner, purchased the car and moved it to Kentucky. When titled at that time the Monza had
31,732 miles on it. The Monza had been neglected in storage, and was still mostly original. This owner did a lot repairs to get the car
back on the road, after its long hibernation.

This is where I come in.

On August 23, 2005, The fifth owner purchased the car, and it stayed in Kentucky. When I took possession of the title, the Monza
showed 32,254 miles. I have continued to make repairs, and replace many time-worn parts.

In January 2008 I started the major rust repairs. Both rocker panels were rebuilt. The drivers floor board was replaced. All the
fenders were patched as needed. The windshield frame was repaired and sealed

In July 2009 the remaining body work and new paint were started.

As of May 2010, the body work was completed, and a new top installed. Ready for the shows.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So in conclusion.

The original owner had the 1969 for about 4 years. (
I do not know the original purchase date ) , but I assume late 1968 or early
1969.
In those years, he ran up 26,000 miles. (
6500 Miles / Year )
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
The next three owners, had the Corvair for almost 33 years. In that time, they only put 6,254 miles on it in total. (
195.44 Miles /
Year
)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
I am putting about
1500 Miles/ Year on it now, but I may increase this mileage as more repairs are made.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---
I will be updating the actual mileage on this page as needed.

I would love to fill in the ??????????????? above, if you have any information. You can send it to me.

While my car was in the paint shop, a parking stub was blown out of the dash while blowing out sanding dust.

Apparently, one of the former owners parked it "long term" in a parking garage in Rochester, NY. It is dated Nov, with no year.
$20.00 a month sounds pretty cheap, so hopefully it was in 1969 or 1970. Could this be a clue to the cars original owner? Could the
Ohio information be incorrect? Maybe the Pennsylvania owner kept it there.
